Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure performed for functional or cosmetic correction of the upper and lower eyelid. It can be performed to treat sagging or loose skin over the eyes which can disturb the natural shape of the upper eyelid and impair vision, to remove lesions or correct certain conditions where the lid margin turns outward (ectropion) or inward (entropian). The surgery is also recommended for the correction of puffy eyes, bags under the eyes, excess fat and skin, drooping lower lid and fine wrinkles. This procedure helps to enhance the appearance of the eyelids and provide a more rejuvenated appearance.

Blepharoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis, under local anesthesia. Your surgeon will make an incision along the natural fold of skin above your eye lid so that the scars are concealed. For the lower eyelid, your surgeon will make an incision just below the eyelashes. Following this, the fat deposits may be repositioned, muscles and tissues tightened, and excess skin will be removed. The cut will then be closed with fine sutures.
